BOOM – PROS
• Direct, rigid feedback
• Makes jibes and tacks feel precise and controlled
• High-performance response and consistent power delivery
• Unlimited hand placement for dialing in the perfect position
BOOM – CONS
• Heavier overall setup
• Takes up more room when traveling
• Higher price point
HANDLES – PROS
• Lightweight and responsive
• Packs down small — super travel friendly
• More affordable
• Great for wave riding and long upwind sessions
HANDLES – CONS
• Less direct feel compared to a boom
• Limited hand placement
• Slightly more movement or flex in the wing
They both work.
There isn’t a “right” answer only what feels right for you and your style of riding.
Progression doesn’t come from whether you ride a boom or handles. It comes from time on the water. From putting in the sessions. From learning, adjusting, falling, getting back up, and slowly stacking those improvements.
The most important thing?
Enjoy the learning process. Stay patient. Stay stoked.
Gear matters but time on the water matters more.
