At A Glance
The Flux V2 Ultra-X wing by Ozone is a big update on the hugely popular Flux wing, which was launched in 2023; the wing boasts an impressive balance of power, control, and manoeuvrability. Designed for intermediate to pro-level riders, this wing showcases an ultra-light and ultra-responsive design that elevates the riding experience across various styles, including freeride, waves, big air and freestyle.
ULTRA-X is the moniker given to all Ozone products that feature Aluula, a lighter and stiffer composite material compared to standard Dacron. This is a significant upgrade in the wing's construction, reducing weight by about 20% over the previous model and massively increasing the stiffness of the frame. Bringing big enhancements in handling, performance, and overall responsiveness. The wing’s design includes a thinner leading edge and strut, thanks to the stiffer properties of Aluula, optimising aerodynamic efficiency.
The build quality on the Flux V2 Ultra X is stunning; it’s one of the better-looking Aluula wings in terms of the neatness of the seams and overall construction. The front handle has also been extended; both handles are carbon and covered with an EVA grip. With the longer front handle, you can control the wing with one hand, which is extremely useful in a multitude of situations.
It's worth mentioning that there is a Flux V2 available in a high tenacity dacron build too; it features all of the same design upgrades, but with a dacron airframe. Giving you most of the benefits of the new design without the Aluula price tag.

In The Air
This wing is light; when you pick it up out of the bag, you will notice that right away. It’s also a very well put-together piece of kit, and the attention to detail as you pump it up is something to behold. A testament to the team at Ozone’s factory in Vietnam, it’s a thing of beauty. Once you start to fly it you’ll see where this weight saving improves performance.
From the very first run, you’ll notice the incredible stability and control that this wing offers. It’s my favourite wing at the moment and just a joy to ride every time I pump it up. There is a perfect balance between the front and back hands, and the longer front handle allows you to manoeuvre the wing in ways that weren’t possible on the previous version.
One of the standout features of the Flux V2 Ultra-X is its remarkable performance in both light and strong winds. The Flux V2 Ultra-X combines a high aspect-ratio shape with enhanced canopy tension and refined aerodynamics, leading to improved low-end power and smooth acceleration. The stiff airframe is also incredible for generating power when you pump. I am always riding a sinker in gusty conditions, and this wing enables me to pump the board to the surface and get going in ways I haven’t experienced before. There is so much low-end power that it makes it a joy to use, as I really hate dogging about on a board waiting for a decent gust.
Meanwhile, the top end seems limitless. I’ve had it out in some super strong gusty conditions, and the stability and control are always there. There is almost zero flutter, and the wing offers a silent riding experience, which was surprising given some of the winds we tested it in. This extensive wind range enables riders to maximise their time on the water, allowing for greater progression while minimising downtime. The wing is particularly suited for riders seeking big air thrills, epic hangtime, and high-energy freeride sessions.
It’s an absolute joy to handle too, every manoeuvre feels fluid and controlled, whether it's overpowered tacks, rapid gybes, or challenging jumps. The wing is light, easy to move around and inspires a lot of confidence. On the waves it freeflies with incredible stability, sitting right where you want it to be, allowing you to concentrate on the turns and getting power out of the wave to make the next section.
While there is a focus on weight here, durability and longevity have not been overlooked in the Flux V2 Ultra-X model. The wing is designed with reinforcement in high-stress areas and utilises an advanced seam layout to ensure consistent performance over time, minimising the dreaded "bag out" that some wings get over time. This commitment to quality is reflected in Ozone’s meticulous manufacturing facility in Vietnam, where each component is crafted with precision to provide riders with a reliable and high-performing product.
Not only does the Flux V2 Ultra-X excel on the water, but it also comes with a range of user-friendly accessories designed to enhance the overall package. The technical backpack is easy to pack, and it features an internal compression bag, which allows you to give your pride and joy an extra layer of protection. The included Wing Waist Padded Belt, featuring a sliding harness hook and a harness line, provides a lovely touch as well. It's great to see this included as standard, especially as some brands are going in the opposite direction and shipping wings with no leashes!
Overall
The Ozone Flux V2 Ultra-X is an exceptional wing that demonstrates significant progress in performance, handling, and user comfort. Its lightweight construction, advanced materials, and innovative features make it an ideal choice for riders at all levels, particularly those seeking impressive freeride capabilities, performance on the wave, freestyle and big air.
Ozone’s commitment to innovation is evident in the development of the Flux V2 Ultra-X, reflecting their vision of creating wings that push the boundaries of performance without compromising on usability or rider enjoyment. Overall, the Flux V2 Ultra-X stands out as a versatile, high-performance option that is incredibly easy to use and will no doubt take your riding to the next level. Perhaps the only consideration here is the price point, and Aluula doesn't come cheap, but the performance is there for those who can fund it, and for the rest of us, the standard version offers some of the performance upgrades for a much more friendly price point.
