The Starboard Ace Foil Foilboard is a downwind-oriented SUP foil board designed to accelerate efficiently, lift early and remain manageable while paddling through open-water conditions. Its combination of length, reduced width and a distinctive pin tail is intended to produce a fast waterline with minimal drag. Although paddle-powered downwind use is the primary focus, Starboard also positions the range as a crossover option for SUP foil surfing and light-wind wing foiling.

Outline, Deck and Tracking

The board uses a teardrop outline with a full nose and narrow pin tail. A flat deck spreads volume evenly across the usable platform, giving the rider a predictable stance and maintaining stability despite the relatively narrow dimensions. Boxy rails and a parallel midsection help the board track in a straight line and allow Starboard to reduce overall width without removing all of the support needed before take-off.

Under the nose, fuller and rounder rails are intended to add stability and improve control in uneven ocean water. The extended length builds speed with fewer paddle strokes, while the reduced width limits wetted area and drag. At the rear, the pin tail draws water together for a clean release. Starboard says this promotes efficient acceleration, smooth lift onto foil and less resistance when the tail contacts the water.

Rocker and Foil Setup

The rocker is tuned for speed, early take-off and recovery from touchdowns. Rather than using an aggressively curved profile, the board relies on its long waterline to develop momentum, with enough nose shaping to manage contact with chop and swell. A 14-inch US-track foil box provides a broad adjustment range, allowing riders to balance different foil systems and positions for paddle or wing use.

Sizes and Rider Guidance

Three Carbon D2 sizes are offered. The 8'1" x 22.5" board carries 140 litres and is described for wing riders up to about 110 kg or SUP foil riders around 100 kg. The 7'7" x 21" version has 120 litres and is the middle option, with guidance of approximately 100 kg for wing use and 90 kg for SUP foiling. The compact 7'3" x 19.5" model has 100 litres and is intended for riders around 90 kg when winging or 85 kg when SUP foiling. Starboard highlights this smallest size as the most manoeuvrable crossover option.

Carbon D2 Construction

Carbon D2 is the sole listed construction. It uses a traditional epoxy lamination intended to reduce weight while retaining structural strength. Carbon reinforcement is concentrated through the standing area, around the foil box and along the rails in a load-frame band. A PVC Omega stringer extends ahead of the foil box to distribute load and resist buckling. The reduced mass is intended to help the board accelerate, lift earlier and respond more directly once flying.

Summary

The Ace Foil is aimed at downwind SUP foilers who value straight-line glide, early release and a stable but relatively narrow platform, while retaining useful crossover potential for SUP surf and light-wind wing sessions. Its long teardrop outline, flat deck, pin tail and lightweight Carbon D2 structure define the design.
