The Starboard Pump Foilboard is a compact 11 litre board created specifically for dock starts, pump foiling, tow-in use and cable foiling. It strips the platform back to the space required for a functional stance, keeping mass and swing weight low so the rider can work directly against the foil. The board is offered in a single 3'1" x 16" size rather than a range of volumes, reflecting its specialised purpose.
Compact Platform
The outline is kept as short as Starboard considers practical while preserving enough deck length for the rider to adjust stance during flight. A consistent thickness runs through the board, providing a uniform platform and placing the rider close to the foil. The rails are shaped to be comfortable to hold, which is useful when carrying the board and foil into position or preparing for a dock start.
A corduroy deck pad runs vertically along the board. This orientation is intended to provide grip while still allowing the rider to slide or refine foot position relative to the nose and tail. With no excess volume intended for conventional water starts, the shape concentrates on pumping response and control once the foil is moving.
Foil Connection
The Pump uses a 10-inch US-track box. The track gives riders room to adjust the foil position for stance and pumping preference, while Starboard sets the box at zero degrees for the intended pump-foil trim. The compact dimensions and direct standing position are designed to transmit rider input without the delay associated with a larger, thicker board.
Construction and Load Capacity
Starboard specifies a 35 kg EPS core reinforced with glass, carbon and unidirectional carbon stringers. The stated objective is a high strength-to-weight ratio, with a finished board weight below 2 kg. The manufacturer also states that the structure is designed to withstand loads from a rider weighing up to 200 kg. That figure describes the claimed structural capacity rather than a recommendation for general buoyancy or water-start use.
Summary
The Pump Foilboard is a purpose-built option for experienced riders practising dock starts, sustained pumping, tow-in or cable foiling. Its single compact size, low mass, direct deck, adjustable zero-degree foil box, grippy pad and reinforced carbon construction are the key supported features.
