The Starboard Above Foilboard is a broad mid-length range created to cover wing foiling, parawing, SUP foiling, foil assist and prone foiling. Its longer, narrower outlines are intended to build speed efficiently and lift in lighter wind, while the unusually wide spread of sizes allows the same design family to serve first-time wing riders, progressing intermediates and advanced riders seeking compact performance. The larger boards emphasise stability; the smaller models reduce width and swing weight for quicker handling.

Glide and Touchdown Control

A parallel midsection gives the board a predictable trim and helps it track while accelerating. The V-shaped nose reduces drag at the front and is designed to soften touchdowns so the board can continue moving rather than stopping abruptly. At the rear, a rounded pin tail provides controlled release while maintaining support as the rider builds speed. The flat deck uses the available width efficiently and keeps the stance stable, while the standing area remains comparatively thin for a more direct connection to the foil.

On the 60 to 110 litre models, Starboard has extended the waterline by one inch. These revised shapes receive a more pulled-in nose to reduce swing weight, a slightly wider tail to add stability during pumping, and forward rails influenced by the X-15 race board for cleaner release. The nose and tail are thinner to reduce mass at the extremities, while the thickness between the front and rear foot positions is balanced to create a neutral stance in flight.

Range and Disciplines

The range begins with a 7'5" x 32" 155 litre learning board for riders up to about 130 kg. A second 7'5" model is 29" wide with 143 litres, followed by a 7'5" x 26" 136 litre version. These larger shapes prioritise stability for learning, schools and centres. The 7'0" x 25" 110 litre model introduces the updated mid-length shape and is positioned as a progression board for wing, SUP and foil-assist use.

The 100, 90, 75 and 60 litre sizes progressively narrow from 21" to 18". Starboard associates them with wing foiling, SUP foiling, foil assist and parawing, with rider guidance ranging from about 95 kg for the 100 litre board to 80 kg for the 60 litre version. The two smallest boards, 45 and 34 litres, measure 5'0" x 17" and 4'7" x 16" respectively and extend the platform into advanced prone and compact performance use. Multiple footstrap inserts allow stance tuning across the different disciplines.

Construction Options

ZERO construction is available in 60, 75 and 90 litres. This full-carbon hollow build uses internal PVC stringers between the deck and bottom to combine stiffness with very low swing weight. Carbon D2 is offered from 60 through 110 litres and uses a lightweight traditional epoxy lamination with carbon reinforcement in the stance, rails and foil-box area.

XTEC Carbon D2 covers the widest volume range, from 60 to 155 litres. It combines an expanding epoxy sandwich structure with a lighter internal lay-up, a carbon load-frame rail band, foil-box reinforcement and an extended PVC Omega stringer. XTEC Carbon is used on the 34 and 45 litre boards, prioritising impact resistance and structural stiffness. The 155 litre size is also available in SOHI, which wraps the rails in high-density EVA and adds fibreglass, an Australian-pine standing area and foil-box reinforcement for a softer, more durable learning platform.

Summary

The Above is an all-round foilboard family for riders who want efficient mid-length glide without being restricted to a single discipline. Its broad size range, forgiving nose, parallel waterline, tuned tail, multiple stance options and four construction choices allow it to cover learning, progression, light-wind winging, parawing, SUP and prone foiling.
