The Ozone Flux V3 is a high-performance single-surface wing developed for fast freeriding, strong upwind drive and fluid manoeuvres. Ozone positions it for confident intermediate and advanced riders who want a direct, sporty connection without moving to the more specialised double-surface Fusion platform. Its third-generation design combines a conventional Dacron airframe with aerodynamic ideas developed through Ozone’s race programme, aiming to retain everyday durability while extending speed, acceleration and usable wind range.
Profile and performance intent
The centre profile has been reworked to maintain steady front-hand pressure and keep the wing driving forward at speed. Ozone says this helps resist front stalling during tacks and gybes, giving the rider a more consistent reference through transitions. The profile becomes notably thinner towards the tips, reducing drag and allowing pressure to release more readily during turns. A longer planform than the Flow V2 reinforces the Flux’s locked-in character, with the design prioritising top-end control, upwind tracking and speed over the softer, more playful behaviour of Ozone’s all-round model.
That efficiency is also intended to broaden the practical wind range. At the low end, the wing’s forward drive supports pumping onto foil; as the wind builds, the thinner profile is designed to reduce drag and keep control manageable. Ozone additionally links the wing’s speed and overhead stability with lift for jumps and a controlled glide. These are manufacturer performance claims rather than independent test results, but they define the intended role clearly: the Flux V3 is a freeride speed wing rather than an entry-level or dedicated wave design.
Airframe and canopy construction
The leading edge and strut use Teijin Triple Ripstop Dacron. Ozone describes this as a rigid, proven marine airframe material selected to balance structural stability with long-term durability. The canopy combines Teijin TechnoForce 5×5 ripstop across the main surface with 3×3 ripstop in selected high-load front panels. The tighter 5×5 weave is intended to resist stretch and preserve a crisp profile, while the 3×3 material allows the load and flex pattern to be tuned in targeted areas.
Horizontal panel orientation aligns the cloth with the principal loads, and the Direct Connect strut joins directly to the leading edge with internal and external reinforcement. Overlap flat seams, strengthened leading-edge and strut areas, internal reinforcements and a lightweight Dyneema line in the trailing edge support the structure. Low-profile scuff pads add abrasion protection without creating bulky leading-edge drag. Depending on size, four or six rigid anti-flap battens support the trailing edge, while windows on both sides of the strut improve visibility around the wing.
Boom, controls and practical features
A rigid carbon boom replaces the earlier slot-handle approach. Its stitched-in base plate is designed to eliminate movement both across and along the strut, creating a more immediate control connection. The boom uses a textured EVA grip, while a moulded soft bumper protects the rider and board and permits a pistol-grip position. Longer boom sizes use a higher carbon grade to maintain comparable stiffness throughout the range. Removing separate handle reinforcements also allows a cleaner, lighter strut structure.
A padded leading-edge surf handle provides control when the wing is flagged out. Separate Fast Flow valves serve the leading edge and strut, and the in-house bladder construction adds doubled material in likely wear areas. A swivel leash line and waist strap form the standard retention system. Fixed-loop harness lines are optional, as are a wrist strap and quick-release arrangement. The supplied technical bag includes an internal pocket, external pump holder, padded shoulder strap and space for the folded wing.
Sizes and specifications
The Flux V3 is available in 3, 3.6, 4.3, 5 and 5.7 square metres. Published weights are 2.14kg, 2.42kg, 2.68kg, 2.97kg and 3.2kg respectively. Every size uses ten cells, a projected aspect ratio of 2.56 and a flat aspect ratio of 2.9. Projected areas run from 2.91 to 5.54 square metres, while the published spans increase from 2730mm on the 3m to 3757mm on the 5.7m. Ozone describes the model’s sweet spot as intermediate to advanced, with actual wind range dependent on rider weight, skill, board and foil choice.
Summary
The Ozone Flux V3 is intended for experienced freeriders seeking speed, upwind efficiency and a stable, direct feel from a durable single-surface wing. Its race-influenced profile, thinner tips, mixed-ripstop canopy, reinforced Dacron frame and zero-play carbon boom are the principal supported strengths, backed by a five-size range that covers powered riding from compact high-wind wings to larger freeride sizes.
