It was a truly fitting end to a great O’pen BIC season, with a magnificent World Championships in Aukland, New Zealand. It was none other than Sir Russell Coutts himself who undertook to assure the best possible organisation, on the water and on the beach. And this was well appreciated by the 133 racers who’d made their way down-under for the “winter” holidays. The five-times Americas Cup winner takes a lot of interest in helping young sailors get the most from their sport and has some clear ideas on how sailing should be taught. Some very pointed observations that he shared with everyone during the Championships, a real education. You can hear what he has to say in the interview on our blog. La saison O’pen BIC s’est donc finie en beauté à Auckland en Nouvelle Zélande avec un mondial particulièrement réussi. C’est Sir Russell Coutts lui-même qui a tenu manager l’organisation aussi bien à terre que sur l’eau. Elle a été unanimement appréciée par les 133 coureurs qui sont déplacés là-bas pendant les vacances de Noël. Le quintuple vainqueur de l’America’s Cup aime accompagner les jeunes coureurs dans leur passion de la voile et il a une idée très personnelle sur l’enseignement de la voile.
