The Starboard X-15 Foilboard is a dedicated high-performance wing foil racing board. Drawing on Starboard's X-15 windsurf foil-slalom programme, it is intended to combine early planing, controlled touchdowns and precise foil input across a competitive wind range. The design is closely linked to the Starboard X-15 one-design racing system, pairing with the brand's wing and foil equipment to provide a standardised platform for racing.

Race-Oriented Shape

The nose carries a pronounced V profile. Starboard uses this shape to manage high-speed touchdowns, helping the board separate from the water and continue moving rather than losing all of its momentum. The outline and rocker are configured for early planing and low-lift foil performance, supporting acceleration before take-off and efficient release as speed increases.

Foil placement is arranged to keep the foil close to the rider's foot position. This is intended to create a direct connection and make small inputs easier to control at racing speed. Footstrap inserts are positioned specifically for high-speed wing racing, giving the rider a supported stance when loading the foil, driving upwind or controlling the board through fast transitions.

Volumes and Equipment Options

The range includes 95 and 75 litre sizes. Starboard describes the 95 litre model for wing-foil racers between approximately 70 and 100 kg, or for riders seeking extra volume in very light wind. Its additional buoyancy is intended to promote earlier planing and foil take-off. The lower-volume 75 litre model provides a more compact alternative for riders whose weight and conditions do not require the larger platform.

Both volumes are offered with or without a bag and leash package. Starboard also supplies a stretchable board sock designed to protect the surface from dust, scratches and ultraviolet exposure. These accessories do not alter the board shape but provide transport and storage options for a race board that may be moved frequently between training and events.

Carbon Reflex Sandwich

Carbon Reflex Sandwich is the listed construction for both sizes. It uses lightweight biaxial carbon in a sandwich structure to provide stiffness, controlled flex and low mass. Starboard says the direct feedback from this lay-up helps riders make quicker, more precise corrections through the foil. Reduced construction weight is also intended to support earlier foiling and a more responsive feel during acceleration and manoeuvres.

Summary

The X-15 Foilboard is aimed at competitive wing racers who prioritise speed, early release and precise foil control. Its deep-V touchdown shape, race-specific foil and footstrap placement, two-volume range and lightweight Carbon Reflex Sandwich construction form the core of the design.
